Loved this! Brought up a memory as a young child when our furnace fuel froze and my single mother was hosting a Christmas party. Some of our guests invited us to their home for Christmas and we packed up our presents (including a cabbage patch doll) and went home with them!
I remember discussing the topic of hospitality in the ancient world in my college literature class. Such a fascinating topic! I seem to remember in The Inferno there was a specific circle of hell for those who offered hospitality but then attacked the ones who were eating with them. Or maybe that was in a different story.
Oh, I need to look that Inferno reference -- I think your memory is right. Thanks for the tip -- I always enjoy a good side trail to follow: you never know when they'll take you back to the center.

What a sweet memory! Thank you so much for sharing that picture of hospitality.
Thank you for this. I will keep pondering it the days to come.
I look forward to hearing the fruit of your pondering!

Fantastic article! This will give me something to chew on (and pray over) for days.
Thanks, Shannon! I'd love to hear the fruit of your prayers and ruminations. Maybe face to face, one of these days....
